Assembly & Placement Defects -
Cracked Component
Component cracking during placement is unusual today on
modern placement equipment. It is more likely to be seen on older
placement systems with mechanical centring. In the case of double sided
assembly,
cracking may occur due to the incorrect positioning of board support
systems on printing or placement.

Careful evaluation of components will eliminate the use of
less robust parts. The faults may not actually be seen until soldering operations
