Only six months after being launched, the Advanced Digital Institute (ADI) the UK’s first independent organisation dedicated to supporting the growth of high-tech companies through the provision of world-class research and development, has announced that it is seeking to employ 20 engineers within the next twelve months.
The first two appointments are industry expert Russell Wilkes, as sector manager embedded systems and George Bystryakov as project engineer embedded systems.
The appointments directly reflect ADI’s plans to initially focus on providing research and development support in the areas of embedded systems and consumer networking. They also echo the topics of interest of several major companies located in the Yorkshire region, more specifically, advanced TV and video systems, videoconferencing and radar/communications systems.
Mr. Wilkes, (on the right) who lives in Barnsley, brings with him over 20 years of experience working as an engineer in embedded operating systems developing complex hardware designs. He has worked in senior roles for a number of high tech companies and holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University. As sector manager for embedded systems he will be responsible for managing specific projects with collaborating companies and universities. Mr Wilkes will also be directly responsible for business development and for managing relationships with collaborating companies.
Mr Bystryakov (on the left) who lives in Leeds, holds a Degree in Electronics Engineering from the renowned Chernihiv Technological University in Ukraine, and brings with him over 10 years experience working on embedded systems in digital media and communications companies where he has worked in several research and development engineering capacities, including project management.
Ged Powell CEO of ADI commented, “We are extremely pleased to have been able to secure the services of two respected individuals. The expertise they bring to ADI will allow us to maximise the specific market opportunities we have identified”.
The Advanced Digital Institute is an intermediate technology development centre helping companies identify and develop new high-value products and services. It is funded by a £2M Yorkshire Forward contract, Bradford Metropolitan District Council support and the EU Regional Fund.
