The SMTA announces the “Successful Lead-Free/RoHS Strategies Conference,” to be held in conjunction with the SMTA Boston Academy and tabletop exhibition and SMT Processes and Six Sigma Certification, June 20-21, 2007, at the Holiday Inn Boxborough, Boxborough, MA.

This conference will provide attendees timely and relevant information and best practices for use in the reliable and effective transition to lead-free and RoHS assembly. The conference is structured to bring the latest research from industry experts to enable both consistent and reliable processes. It will also offer attendees the tools to transition to lead-free with the high quality they are accustomed to in leaded systems while maintaining regulatory due diligence.

The conference will include six sessions on RoHS, lead-free assembly, lead-free reliability and rework, and tin whiskers.

A keynote address on “Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI): An Overview of the Organization and its Role with Lead-Free Electronics” will be delivered by Gregory Morose, University of Massachusetts Lowell, on Thursday, June 21, from 9 to 10 a.m.

In addition, the SMTA Boston Academy will offer five tutorials, on the following topics: SMT principles and practice, design of experiment, surface finishes, lead-free and China RoHS, and SMT lead-free assembly.

A tabletop exhibition will be held Wednesday, June 20, and SMTA Certification Programs on SMT Processes and SMT Six Sigma/Greenbelt will run June 19-21.
