REACH, the EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals law that will go into force on June 1, 2007, mainly target companies that manufacture chemicals, but REACH does contain provisions directed towards producers and importers of components and finished goods, as well as towards companies that merely use chemicals in the EU on a professional basis.
The first of the two-part webcast series covers the impact of REACH on the electronics industry. "REACH and the Electronics Industry" airs Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from 10:00am to 11:00am US Central Time.
The second of the two-part webcast, "REACH and the Electronics Industry: Manufacturing, Assembly, Repair and Servicing Operations in Europe", airs Wednesday, April 18, 2007, from 10:00am to 11:00am US Central Time. REACH contains specific duties for "downstream users" of "substances" and "preparations," which will cover virtually any company that has manufacturing, assembly, repair, servicing or similar operations in the EU.
Both webcasts will focus on the background of REACH and its implications for high-tech companies, including those that manufacture equipment outside of the EU or import it into the EU. For more information, or to register, visit www.ipc.org/reachwebcast and download the registration form.
